Kelaniya Royal Temple, Sri Lanka, 10km east of Colombo in Colombo-Kandy Road is one of the most sacred, most beautiful, largest temples of Sri Lanka. The temple stands majestically on a higher plain of the west bank overlooking River Kelani (Kalyana) that flows right in front. The depiction of the landmarks of Sinhalese Buddhsit history and also events associated with the Buddha stories are in the Kelaniya frescoes of this temple. |
