Buddha , Phiawat Temple

This temple houses the well-preserved ruins of a superb and imposing statue of a seated Buddha. Built in the 16th century, this temple was particularly sacred and venerated. It was almost completely destroyed during the war and then rebuilt. Only the Great Buddha is still visible. The statue still bears some scars from the war. This Buddha wears a ceremonial cloth, and several statuettes of Buddha are in his lap. According to local belief, the Great Buddha was spared by the bombs because of his spiritual power.
