
50th Anniversary of Thailand-Turkey Diplomatic Relations | |
To celebrate the diplomatic affiliation between Thailand and Turkey, which was inaugurated on 12 May 1958 Lohaprasat of Wat Ratchanaddah in Bangkok and the national flag of Thailand The Lohaprasat (structure with a spire in metal) was commissioned by Rama III, to commemorate his granddaughter princess Sohmanat Watana Wadih, who later became the first queen of Rama IV. The Thai version has seven storeys with thirty-seven spires surrounding the outside, one on the top, twenty-four on the second floor, and twelve on the fourth, and which represent the seven sets of thirty-seven qualities that must be observed in order to attain Enlightenment as described in the Bodhi Pakkhiyah Dhamma discourse given by the Buddha. The Thai Lohaprasat of Wat Ratchanaddah is the only one of its kind still intact today. Sultan Ahmed Mosque or Blue Mosque in Istanbul and the national flag of Turkey. Both stamps at the bottom have a curved red field with a white text, i.e. the colours of the Turkish national flag. The text is both in Thai and English and besides the denomination and the name of Thailand, it further reads: 50th Anniversary of Thailand-Turkey Diplomatic Relations.
