Flying Rainbow Pagoda, Hongtong County, Shanxi Province
Flying Rainbow Pagoda (Feihong Pagoda)  is located in Guangsheng Temple. Its predecessor was the Ashoka Pagoda built in the Han Dynasty, that is, the Buddha's relics stupa. The current tower was built in the sixth year of Jiajing in Ming Dynasty (1527). This is the best preserved coloured tile pagoda in China, and it was built in 1527. It is 47 metres high, and decorated with pottery shrines.
The Feihong Pagoda is a pavilion-style tower with a glazed tower with 13 floors in an octagonal shape. The tower is 47.31 meters high, all made of bricks, and crossed on top of the mountain. The contour shrinks layer by layer from bottom to top, like a cone. The glazed glaze veneer of the whole pagoda reflects the superb glazed firing skills and wisdom of the folks in Shanxi, and is a masterpiece of the glazed glazed pagoda in China.
On March 4, 1961, Guangsheng Temple, including the Feihong Pagoda, was announced by the State Council of the People's Republic of China as the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
