King Daham Sonda, afflicted with the thirst for hearing the Dhamma, left his kingdom and travelling in the guise of a villager, confronted god Sakra who appeared as a demon to test his intentions. The King was ordered to jump down a hill into the mouth of the demon, while the latter pretended to preach the Dhamma at the same time. God Sakra held him by his hands and having placed him on the throne, preached the Dhamma to satisfy the King. Note the appearance of particular flowers, including the Olu Lotus flower (Olu is the Singhalese name for the White Lotus flower or Lotus Nymphea), above the heads of specific personages on the picture.
