Wat Si Muang Temple
Wat Si Muang Temple is one of the most beautiful temples in the city of Vientiane, but is one of the most visited, above all by the Laotian population. Wat Si Muang is the temple where, according to local legend, lives the spirit of a young girl that custody and save the city of Vientiane.
The Wat Si Muang Temple was built in the year 1563 . During the side roll Siamese invasion in 1828 the temple was reduced to ashes. Later in the year 1915, it was rebuilt by the French and renovated in the year 1956. The temple Wat Si Muang is the venue chosen for the celebration of the Boun That Luang festival (wax castle), in the month of November.
