Guan Yin Bodhisattva
To publicize Mahayana Buddhism. Chinese goddess of mercy, in Japan known as Kwannon and in Thailand as Phra Mae Kwan Im. As a lady, she is the female form of the male bodhisattva Avalokitesvara the personification of compassion, from Mahayana Buddhism. Tamnak Phra Mae Kwan Im temple in Bangkok is dedicated to her. Wat Huai Pla Kang, i.e. a Buddhist temple in Chiang Rai, features a 79 meters tall Kuan Yin statue, reportedly the largest image of this goddess in Thailand.
