Painted pictures depicting the annual Songkraan celebrations, i.e. Thai New Year: song nahm phra, i.e. paying respect to Buddha statues by pouring scented water on them; rod nahm mon, i.e. paying homage to the elderly by pouring scented water over their hands; khon saai khao wat, i.e. returning sand to the temple by ko phra chedi saai, i.e. building sand pagodas known as chedi saai and splashing water on each other for fun , an event which in the ancient city of Ayutthaya is joined by the local city elephants.
