1. Togetsu-kyo is a bridge that spans the Oigawa River at a total length of 155m. The name’s source comes from Emperor Kameyama in the Kamakura Period (1185–1333) who praised the fact that on a cloudless night that the moon looked just like it was crossing over the bridge. (The name "Togetsu-kyo" roughly means "Moon-crossing Bridge"). It is a symbol of Arashiyama, and in all seasons there are things to enjoy here, from cherries to greenery to snow.
2. Daigo-ji is a Shingon Buddhist temple in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto, Japan. Its main devotion is Yakushi. Daigo, literally "ghee", is used figuratively to mean "crème de la crème" and is a metaphor of the most profound part of Buddhist thoughts. Also shown is the stamp of Statue of Gakko Bosatsu, Daigo-ji.
3. Sanzen-in is a Tendai school monzeki temple in Ohara, Kyoto, Japan. Also shown is the stamp of Yuseien Garden, Sanzen-in.
4. Nakagyo Post Office is a office building, post office located at Hishiya-cho in Kyoto. The doorway of Nakagyo Post Office is also shown in this series.
5. Shoden-ji is a small temple of the Rinzai school of Zen Buddhism located in Kyoto. The night scene of this temple can be found in this series. |
