350th Anniversary of victory over joint Tibet-Mongol army

In 1644 A.D., combined army of Tibet's Dalai Lama, Lobzang Gyamtsho and Mongol King, Gushri Khan invaded Bhutan.  The invasion was completely routed and the myth of an invincible Mongol army shattered. In this battle, Bhutan captured prominent Generals such as Nagsa Ngodrub, Dujing and Drongtseney beside many horses and weaponery. The Drugyel Dzong was built to commemorate this victory.
