Tsukiji Hongwanji is a Jodo Shinshu (Shin Buddhism) temple founded by Shinran, with its head temple at Nishi Hongwanji in Kyoto. Originally near Asakusa, it was relocated to Tsukiji in 1679 on reclaimed land, rebuilt in 1934 after the 1923 earthquake, and designated a National Important Cultural Property in 2014. |
